[Calgary, August 9th, 2023] – Empowering Minds, a leading charitable organization dedicated to empowering youth and emerging leaders, is excited to announce a major restructuring and rebranding initiative, transforming into Empowering Artists (EA). This strategic change is a natural extension of our Live & Unsigned events and a response to the increasing need for comprehensive support for emerging musical artists in Canada.
“I am excited to see the legacy of Empowering Minds continue, evolve, and grow, to create long lasting impacts in the community through Empowering Artists.” — Deanna Werklund, Empowering Minds President & Board Chair
New Programming Focus and Purpose
Empowering Artists (EA) will now focus on providing artists with proven innovative leadership programs that develop the confidence, motivation, and resilience necessary to thrive in today’s dynamic music world.
Vision for Empowering Artists
The vision of Empowering Artists is to empower independent Canadian artists of all ages to take control of their music careers. We are committed to achieving this by providing productive and creative spaces, music business mentorship, and an innovative, hands-on curriculum. Empowering Artists is actively building a vibrant community of artists, business leaders, and community members who will collectively participate in building the Entrepreneurial Artist Program, give back at the grassroots level through the Music For Everyone Program, and contribute significantly to our local arts scene.
Welcoming Our New Leaders
We are thrilled to introduce our new Executive Director, Seth Anderson, an experienced leader with a diverse background that includes 12 years at TELUS leading operational and strategic teams, managing music artists, coaching and managing elite sports teams, and founding an 8-time award-winning podcast – The Biz Dojo. “It’s always been a passion of mine to help people work towards their goals and dreams. Empowering Artists is all about helping people, whether that be navigating the different aspects of the music industry or creating impact in the community through mentorship and inclusive events,” Anderson explains.
“I’m excited to be part of the team that brings the vision to life and looking forward to helping as many people as we can in the years ahead.” — Seth Anderson, Empowering Artists Executive Director
Joining the Board of Directors is Eric Rolheiser, who assumes the role of Co-Chair at Empowering Artists alongside Deanna Werklund. Together, they bring a formidable combination of leadership and experience to drive the organization’s ambitious goals.
Our Core Values Remain Unchanged
As Empowering Minds transitions into Empowering Artists, our core values will remain steadfast. We will continue to be guided by Value Based Leadership, Integrity, Empowerment, Active Citizenship, and Self Awareness in every aspect of our vision, programs, and decision-making.
